Maiden, Mother, Crone
lyrics written by Ylathia Rhayne

Over broomsage hills and salmon crested streams she rides
Like diamonds 'neath a star-splintered sky doth gleam her silent eyes
On a spirited mare- she's brave- she rides her bare
Feathers flying in her flower braided hair
She flies with the falcon; he greets her with tilted wing
Fingers weaving daisies, in a crooked glen she sings

How long have you danced here Beneath this maiden moon?
What dreams have you dreamt here, beneath these standing stones?
Under the Hill you've retreated to live your faerytale
Under the Hill your heart will be healed

Scattered now are the ashes of this summer's Beltane balefire
Lovers lay neath weeping cherries, cocooned in last night's desire
Neath the faery hills they lay, where the elven children play
Your lover is the King of the Faefolk- so you say
She weaves her magick twilight web over fields of barley grain
Lizards dash neath small bare feet where for years small stones have lain
Neath the waterfall she bathes- I don't understand her peculiar ways
She treads the path where all lost children seem to stray
She brings down a flock of stars with an elven bow and quiver
She is the quiet forest and the Spring flood's raging river

How long have you danced here beneath this Mother moon?
What dreams have you dreamt here amid these standing stones?
Under the Hill you've retreated to live your faerytale
Under the Hill you're heart will be healed

Where, Oh, where have the years all disappeared? In
her scrying mirror now, a whithered old seer
One last incantation, she speaks her destination...
in the embers of a dying fire she feels the Grey Man
drawing nearer. In her mortar now, the resin of
mandrake and rue... morning glories line the path to
the Gate she's walking through

How long did you dance here, Gran, beneath this Old
Crone moon? What dreams did you dream here, amid these standing stones?
Under the Hill you've retreated to live your faerytale
Under the Hill your heart will be healed
Under the Hill your soul will be fulfilled
